Restorative Thai Yoga Massage

What is Thai Yoga Massage: Full-Body Healing & Relaxation

Let’s begin with the definition of Thai Yoga Massage, often referred to as “the lazy person's yoga.” Why the nickname? Because the practitioner does the stretching for you! This ancient practice combines acupressure with assisted stretching, as the practitioner uses their hands and feet to knead and press muscles along the body’s energy lines.

These energy pathways, known as Sen lines in Thai Yoga Massage, are similar to the meridian lines familiar in Chinese Medicine. The origins of traditional Thai massage can be traced back over 2,500 years to India and the spread of Buddhism. The founding father of Thai massage, Jivaka Kumarbhaccha, was a renowned yogi and doctor in the ancient Indian healing tradition of Ayurveda. Through his deep understanding of Ayurveda, Buddhism, and his own life experiences, he established the practice of Thai Yoga Massage.

How Can Thai Yoga Massage Help Me?

By combining stretching, pressure points, knowledge of the Sen lines, and principles from Ayurvedic medicine, the practitioner tailors each session to balance your energy, relieve muscle tension, and stimulate vital organs for overall healing and well-being.

Thai Yoga Massage can benefit a wide range of ailments and conditions, including chronic pain, migraines, constipation, and hypertension. Here’s how it works:

  • Improves flexibility and muscle range of motion through assisted stretching.

  • Increases blood flow and circulation, enhancing overall vitality.

  • Releases physical tension, alleviating aches and pains.

  • Eases emotional tension, reducing stress and fostering deep relaxation.

Thai Yoga Massage is typically performed on a cushion or mat on the floor. Wear comfortable clothing, like sweatpants or leggings.
